Masquerading as Me

This is my roleplay blog. I've been gaming since I started University, which was in 1981. Back then there was pretty much nothing else to play but AD&D, so that's what I started with. I'm also a live roleplayer and sometimes I do re-enactment as well.

Dreams and Reality

I'm posting today in the relatively small hours of a Sunday because last night's Cam game got into my brain sufficently as to wake me early. One of the plots running in our game is about Dreams Which Become Reality. I've been dreaming more lately anyway, for whatever reason, but tonight I dreampt about being a novice LARPer again, and discovering that a quite good game was running from a street corner near me. I went off on an adventure with my best LARPing mate of old (hiyas to Mercy), managed to survive, and even ended up in an IC pub at the end of it. So now I am awake, with all that energy still in my head (and possibly adrenalin in my body too ?).

It's not the first time I've had gaming-related dreams. I have a recurring dream about our (much expanded) tabletop group running games in a (imagined) venue that used to be (imaginarily) used by my original LARP group. I've also dreampt about going back to my (now non-existent) old LARP game and having a great time there.

Anyway, the Cam plot is interesting. Apparently it's actually gone global. Cudos for our DST. The Thing that ate the Ordo Dracul in Manchester recently was apparently a phantasm, a piece of dream which crossed into Reality and wrought some very real effects. Not a nice thing to be dealing with. Seemingly the power is being weilded by an aggressive Christian group, which makes you really hope none of them start dreaming about daylight.

I'm going to claim my own bit of cudos here, and say that the Cult which the Christian group massacred to get their plans off the ground were my brainchildren, seeded by a couple of random rumours I wrote for the game at the DST's behest in November. The original rumour seeds were:
  • Some very dangerous 'fireworks' have gone missing, presumed stolen.

  • A religiously / new age-y significant local area has been cordoned off.

Our DST ran with those and has developed an entertaining plot from it which should keep us going for quite a while.

Manchester will be hosting the Northern Regional in March, so this plot plus the leylines / portal plots and a couple of the Manchester characters presenting their Masters to the Ordo authorities should keep Ordo players amused, at least.

Do come along if you can. 23rd-25th March, details on the Cam UK website.
